Sunday Night Mind Dump

By Rick Long | July 20, 2008

Terrific Day at The Point! Great crowd for a summer Sunday. It was good to be back in the pulpit again after a couple of weeks not preaching.

The Band rocked today! We are so blessed to have so much talent and heart in our vocalists and band. Wow! I praise God for John Bennett’s leadership. John Martin rocked the house on the bass- boy got skill.

Two children confessed Christ as savior! Now that’s what it’sall about.

I am bummed that my leg is still not back to 100%. It hurt more today than it has all week. I am wimp, but it’s really beginning to get on my nerves.

KidsCamp at Walter-Todd Apts this afternoon was good. Lots of kids, lots of servants from The Point. I wasn’t there long, but I am so impressed by the caliber of people that God has given us.

Lead Team meets this week. I enjoy spending time with these men and women, they are exceptional. Again, we are blessed. Again, high-caliber people.

Shane is on vacation. I will miss him in the office, but I am excited for his family enjoying a week off.

One of our ‘youth’ left for college today. I have always been impressed with Caleb. I am excited for him as he goes off to college. I will be covering him in prayer, I have always had a soft heart toward college freshmen- it’s such a huge life transition. He’ll be fine.

HUGE-MASSIVE-GARGANTUAN stuff coming in September: Table Groups (our sunday school), KidStyle (children’s church), BIG changes to the children’s ministry, Jason and Marri Hampton coming to The Point to serve with our youth, renovations, renovations, renovations….and more, lots more.

I love watching my Linley Beth grow up. She has been singing and full of life all day today. She is coming out of her shyness and really turning on the charm. Lastnight we went to dinner with some friends and she asked their son if he thought that she was the most beautiful girl in the world”. We’re going to talk about humility a bit this week.

It’s good to have Becca back from her conference. Apparently she is now a Pampered Chef Superstar. #1 in pretty much everyting. She didn’t say that, but others at the conference did. Now she can be #1 Admin. Asst. in the office again.

We have church planters that are coming to The Point for the next 4 Sundays, just to check us out. I like spending time with these guys. They energize me.
