But God…

Thursday, November 30th, 2006

From a personal perspective, I am seeing more people who are struggling with real issues in life and who are seeking peace, wisdom and Truth. God is obviously giving us people who need Him. There are so many, needy, high-maintenance, messy people out there who are tired of living a life of mediocrity and sin. [...]

Enlarging The Tent

Friday, November 24th, 2006

We are in the midst of a teaching emphasis on the words of Isaiah in chapter 54, focusing on verse 2…
“Sing, O barren one, who did not bear;
break forth into singing and cry aloud,
you who have not been in labor!
For the children of the desolate one will be more
than the children of her who is [...]

Observations from Bowling Green

Wednesday, November 15th, 2006

I have just returned from the KBC annual meeting in Bowling Green. Here are some personal observations…

There were far fewer leaders of leading churches there. There were fewer young leaders there.
Energy and enthusiasm that was evident in past annual meetings, seemed to be missing altogether.
More than 70% of the attendees were 60 years or older, many [...]

Live From Bowling Green

Tuesday, November 14th, 2006

At the Kentucky Baptist Convention annual meeting in Bowling Green, there are a couple of items that pertain to The Point Community Church.
1. The Point was accepted as a church under ‘watchcare’ status. Which is standard for churches less than one year old. Our central purpose for affiliating with KBC and SBC is to participate [...]

C.J. Mahaney taught at the recent Together For The Gospel conference on Timothy 4:16 which states “Keep a close watch on yourself and on the teaching. Persist in this, for by so doing you will save both yourself and your hearers.”
This teaching is the basis for a new book entitiled Preaching the Cross, that will be [...]

Sunday Night (late) Ponderings

Sunday, November 5th, 2006

Today was just one of those really good days that stand out. Now that I think about it, it seems that I could say that about most (if not every) day that we gather as a church for worship together. As I look to the week ahead, it’s going to be busy but fun.
Tuesday, I am meeting [...]

Leo and SBTS

Saturday, November 4th, 2006

Russell Moore, Dean of the school of theology at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, has a commentary that details a recent article in Leo, an openly liberal Louisville magazine. The article addresses the upcoming elections and the political climate in the region, focusing on the influence of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. I find the Leo [...]

Biblical Governance

Friday, November 3rd, 2006

I long fought the idea of serving as a (senior) Lead Pastor. But now, I cannot begin to properly express my gratitude to God for calling me to pastor this church. I know that God has used all of my past experiences, whether painful or joyful, to shape me for this present calling.
To be part of a church [...]

I want to give a shout out to my friend, Andrew Dodson. He has been a source of tremendous help in building this site. He can build a site for you too. He is a gifted designer, savvy tech, and better than average drummer . More importantly, he treasures Jesus. Visit his website and [...]
